1. Some protection

We decided to start with rider and ATV protection by equipping nerf bars, bumpers, etc. These items are extremely critical for anyone who rides harder than their mom, and it is important to buy quality products because they could very well keep you from getting jacked up in a wreck or a slip-up. We have used many different brands and although some have worked well we decided to go to Pro Armor. Pro Armor is based out of California and offers ultra high-end products backed by unheard of customer service. After scrolling through the pages of ProArmor.com for about an hour we had created a list that could rival anything headed to the north-pole.

The Billet PowerGRIP Foot pegs would be the heart of our no-footer landing pad. The first thing that I noticed out of the box was the sheer size of these things, they are huge, and yes size matters. The destructions, I mean instructions were simple and all the hardware was there for multiple applications. Notice the boot biting teeth on these bad boys that cut my hand up during an over-anxious package opening.

Finishing up the Pro Armor PowerGRIP system with the matching nerf bars and heal guards was a no brainer. You can see here how much of a difference this setup is over stock. These pegs are wider, feel much better on the feet, and will dramatically help us move our body weight in the corners. I was surprised to see how easy it was to tether the netting in to the nerf bars. This can be a nightmare and has often left me swearing and spitting, but it was very obvious that Pro Armor had us in mind when designing this setup. I spent a fraction of the time installing the netting that I thought I would which gave me more time to play with the bubble wrap that was included in the box.

Here you can see how the PowerGRIP system is assembled. Everything bolts to the foot peg and the foot peg bolts right up to the stock location. As some of you know, getting all of the bolts to line up and tighten down can be easier said than done, but once again Pro Armor came through with excellent fit and finish. It was just that easy and I never had to use my nerf bar “persuader.”

Also seen in this picture is the Pro Armor billet brake pedal. This piece offers greater surface area with better teeth than the stock unit so you can get on the binders easier before that pesky tree or hay bale attacks you again.

Of course we didn’t want our left foot to get jealous, so we also popped for a Pro Armor billet shifter. I know you are probably thinking that a shifter is just a shifter and why upgrade something so simple, but let me tell you that this is one of my favorite upgrades on the quad. The larger toe piece makes shifting a dream and half clicking to neutral so much easier. Okay, I would be lying if I told you I didn’t just buy this for its good looks, but I really am impressed with how well it performs over stock.

Another section that we needed to address was the tail and we needed something that would look good and protect our aftermarket exhaust when tipping the quad up on its hind quarters. Pro Armor was once again our choice with their Pro Race Grab Bar, in black of course. Rear Grab bars can often be a little…well…stupid looking, but this one seemed to follow the fender lines and match our theme perfectly. Best of all it does the one thing that we needed it to do, protect our exhaust.
